GlobalEd 2 - Teachers

Welcome Teachers!

The GlobalEd 2 Project focuses on improving students’ performance in literacy and science in 7th or 8th-grade classrooms via an interdisciplinary social studies platform. The GlobalEd 2 Project serves to integrate subjects which are often relegated a "backseat" in the classroom to those subjects that are accessed through state-mandated, high stakes standardized tests and therefore more commonly focused on. Through a web-based simulation environment, the GlobalEd 2 Project affords students the opportunity to ground their knowledge and skills in literacy and science in an area that demonstrates authentic application, the social studies class.

During the project, teams of your students will participate in a 5-week simulation of international negotiation that focuses on water issues around the world. Prior to the simulation, each team will be assigned to represent a particular country. Students will be tasked with researching various science topics on water, global issues pertainint to water (such as global environment, human rights, health, and international economics), and their respective country's policies on such issues.

This section of the GlobalEd 2 website provides information on the simulation, how GlobalEd 2 links to national content standards, valuable science links and information, writing resources, and other important content to help you throughout your training and the project. All of the relevant information can be found using the navigation on the left. Welcome, and we hope you enjoy the project!

Teachers with questions send e-mail to Simcon within the simulation or directly to either globaled@uconn.edu or geexpertteam@gmail.com.
